How To Make a Hideaway Tub Table
SUPPLIES
Plywood
Sandpaper
Paint
Paint brush
Waterproof sealant
Pencil
2 hinges
Power drill
Drill bits
Screws
Chain
Hook and eye latch
INSTRUCTIONS
Cut plywood to desired table size. Cut another strip for the top of the latch to attach to (alternatively, you can attach the top of the latch directly to the wall).
Sand rough edges.
Paint or stain. Let dry.
Apply waterproof sealant. Let dry.
Attach two hinges to one end of the wood.
Holding the wood perpendicular to a wall, measure a length of chain on each side to create a right triangle.
Screw chain to the side corners of the wood, closer to the side that does not have hinges.
Flip wood over so that hinges are facing down.
On the side opposite the hinges, mark and attach the hook piece to the wood. Mark and attach the eye piece to the small strip of wood.
On bathroom wall, mark where you want the bottom of the table to sit.
Mark and attach hinges to wall.
Fold table up so it is flush with the wall.
Attach both pieces of chain to the wall, so they sit on either side of the top corners of the wood.
Attach small strip of wood to the wall so it is flush with the table when closed. Check that the latch can be opened and closed properly.
Use tub table as extra space when you need it, and lock it away under the towel rack when you donât!
