Here is what you'll need!
Healing Bath Soak
MATERIALS
½ Cup baking soda
1 Cup epsom salt
Peppermint oil
Eucalyptus oil
Tea tree oil
Soap Dye (optional)
STEPS
Mix together the baking soda and epsom salt. Add in a few drops of the peppermint, eucalyptus, and tea tree oils.
Optional: Color the bath soak using soap dye.
Use by pouring into a warm bath and allow the soak to dissolve.
The baking soda will help soften the water, the epsom salt will alleviate muscle aches, the peppermint oil help open breathing airways, the eucalyptus oil will fight congestion, and the tea tree oil will act as an antiseptic.
Heated Rice Sock
MATERIALS
Long cotton sock
Rubberband
Cup
Uncooked rice
Peppermint oil
Eucalyptus oil
STEPS
Flip the cotton sock inside out and place it in a cup, folding the top half over the edges to hold it open. Pour the rice inside of the sock, fill approximately halfway.
Add in a few drops of peppermint oil and eucalyptus oil.
Tie the sock with a rubberband at the halfway point (where the rice ends), fold the rest of the sock over.
Heat the sock in the microwave for 1-2 minutes.
Use on aches to relieve pain.
Turmeric Tea
MATERIALS
1 Cup water
1 Teaspoon turmeric
1 Inch ginger, sliced
1 Teaspoon honey
½ Lemon (juiced)
Strainer
STEPS
Heat a cup of water, then add in the turmeric, ginger, and honey. Bring to a boil.
Remove the tea from the heat and strain. Pour into a cup.
Add in the lemon juice. Stir.
The turmeric will help fight the cold, the ginger will act as an anti-inflammatory, the honey will help relieve a sore throat and fatigue, and the lemon juice will provide an added boost to your immune system.
Chest Rub
MATERIALS
Pot
Large glass bowl
2 Tablespoon beeswax
½ Cup coconut oil
20 Drops eucalyptus oil
10 Drops peppermint oil
10 Drops tea tree oil
Sealed container
STEPS
Create a double boiler by filling a pot with boiling water, and placing a large glass bowl over it. Keep it over the heat.
Place beeswax and coconut oil to the bowl and melt them together.
Add in the eucalyptus, peppermint, and tea tree oils to the mixture.
Remove the mixture from the heat and pour into a container. Leave uncovered to cool for an hour, then close the container.
Apply to chest area to relieve congestion.
Cough Drops
MATERIALS
¾ Cup water
Ginger
Peppermint tea (in a bag or loose leaf)
Chamomile tea (in a bag or loose leaf)
¾ Cup Honey
Cornstarch
STEPS
Combine water, ginger, and teas, bring to a boil. Strain.
Place the strained mixture back onto the heat, add in the honey and stir. Bring the mixture to 300°F (150°C).
Allow the mixture to cool slightly so that it has the texture of a thick syrup.
Pour spoonfuls of the mixture onto a nonstick pan, one inch apart.
Allow the cough drops to harden for one hour.
Drizzle cornstarch over the lozenges to keep them from sticking together, store in a resealable container.
