How To Cook Your Own Campsgiving Feast
WHOLE CHICKEN ROAST
INGREDIENTS
Whole chicken
4 potatoes, cut in quarters
4 carrots, bite size
2 garlic cloves
2 tablespoon olive oil
½ lemon
½ onion
2 sprigs rosemary
2 sprigs thyme
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon pepper
¼ cup butter
Dutch oven
Charcoals
Aluminum tin pan, optional
PREPARATION
Heat the coals.
Cut potatoes and carrots into bite size pieces and toss them into a large plastic bag.
Add garlic, 2 teaspoons of oil, a pinch of salt and pepper and shake up the bag.
Place the chicken in the dutch oven. Drizzle the rest of the oil, salt and pepper onto the chicken and rub into the chicken.
Shove lemon, onion and herbs into the cavity of the chicken.
Slice butter into thin slices and place under skin, and rub the rest onto the chicken.
Pour the veggies into the dutch oven and place the cover on top.
Lay down the tin pan and place 12-15 hot coals on to the bottom. Place the dutch oven directly over the hot coals and place another 12-15 on the lid.
Let it cook for 11/2 hours or until the chicken is cooked thoroughly.
Use the drippings as gravy and enjoy!
FOIL PACK STUFFING AND GREEN BEANS
INGREDIENTS
Box stuffing mix
Ingredients according to box
Aluminum foil
Green beans
PREPARATION
In a bowl mix stuffing mix with required ingredients according to box.
On a sheet of aluminum foil place a spoonful of stuffing mix and green beans.
Fold the foil and crimp the ends.
Place on the grill over medium heat, and with in 5 minutes the beans will get nice and crunchy and the stuffing will have a nice crust.
Have individual pouches for the entire family.
EASY CAMPFIRE APPLE CRISP
INGREDIENTS
4-6 apples
½ cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter
Cast iron pan
granola
PREPARATION
Cut apples into thin slices.
In a large bowl mix the rest of the ingredients and lay it out into the cast iron pan.
Place over the grill and cook until the apples are at desired softness.
Take off heat and sprinkle over your favorite granola and other toppings
COFFEE CAN ICE CREAM
INGREDIENTS
Coffee can (1lb can)
Larger coffee can (3 lb can)
1 cup milk
½ cup heavy cream
½ cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Rock salt
Ice cubes
Duct tape
PREPARATION
In the smaller coffee can mix milk, cream, sugar and vanilla. Place the lid over the can and tape it down.
Shake well and place the can into the bigger canister.
Add ice and rock salt around the can.
Place lid over and tape around to avoid leaks.
Roll the can for 10 minutes or until the ice cream forms.
Enjoy the ice cream as is so on top of the apple crisp!
PARACORD MUG HANDLES
SUPPLIES
Paracord
Mug
Scissors
lighter
INSTRUCTIONS
Take 2-3 feet of paracord and thread through the handle.
Fold the cord at the halfway point. Cross over the cord in your left hand over the one from the right.
Take the top cord and thread it back through the handle.
Thread the end up through the loop created initially and tighten.
Take the cord now in your right hand back through the handle.
The cord in your left hand will go under the cord, and wrap it over the handle then through the loop on the right.
Tighten and repeat until the handle is covered.
Cut the excess and use a lighter to singe the edges.
Now have a customized handle for each cup as well as a emergency cord for your camping needs.
BANDANA NAPKIN
SUPPLIES
Bandana
Carabiner
utensils
INSTRUCTIONS
Fold the bandana into a triangle. Have the open tip face away from you.
Take one corner and fold it with the width of the carabiner.
Slide in the carabiner. Then slip in the utensils into the open folds.
Make these ahead of time for the guests and they can use it for every outdoors needs!
